Pele is a beautiful, gentle young man at around 4 years old.
Pele came to be under SCRT as he snuck into a trap that was meant for another cat, as soon as his rescuer put the trap down and turned around, there he was! He was clearly very ready to be off the streets and in a warm bed.
When we first met him, he was extremely cautious, however he has come on huge amounts and is now used to the home life, we are extremely proud of him.
Pele arrived having a bad case of cat flu due to living on the streets. Since he has been in foster, his cat flu is in remission and this has never caused him any medical issues or affected the way he lives. There are very few times that he can get a runny nose and have sneezes, just like us humans, due to the past trauma of living with it from very young age.
Pele is very playful and enjoys the simplest of toys, the occasional zoomies at night and he LOVES his food. He also adores cheek rubs and belly rubs (after you gain his trust). He does not have an aggressive bone in his fluffy body, he is so soft in his personality and also his thick fur, he now has the nickname “cotton ball”.
Pele isn’t the type of cat to wake you up in the early hours for food, he is very patient and will sit quietly until he hears you stir.
We have found him to be a really easy cat to live with, he loves napping, watching birds out the window and just being a cat! He is famous with all of the neighbours as he likes to sleep on the windowsill with his belly out.
We strongly feel that Pele would suit a home where he is the only cat, this is purely due to the fact that he can sometimes have a runny nose and sneezing mentioned above. A home with older children if any would work well, as he is loving the peaceful chilled life where he can come out of his shell as he learns to trust you. He has not been tested with dogs, this is something that may be able to work for the right family.
We also feel an indoor home would suit him best, with a cat proof garden or catio as a bonus.
If you are looking for a cute, gentle, playful, easy to be round cat then please come and meet him! Pele may not ever be a lap cat, but once you have won his heart, he will never let you go.
