Now I have arrived at your home, everything is strange and I don’t feel good.
Do not feel impatient if I don’t sleep in my new basket. Yesterday I slept in the dirt.
Do not be terrified if I gobble up my food. Yesterday I had to do it to survive.
Do not get angry if I pee on your floor. Yesterday it did not matter.
Do not be sad if I am afraid of your loving hand. Yesterday I did not have one.
Have patience with me, it’s your world but not yet mine.

Dre arrived in our care in May 2026 after spending a long time as a stray. He had been kindly fed by a lovely lady who cared about him deeply but sadly, she was no longer able to look after him.
Having spent so much of his life living as a stray, Dre finds humans very frightening. He is a very scared boy who will need a special person willing to give him the time, patience and understanding he needs to feel safe.
Dre has made a little progress in our care. One of our volunteers has gradually earned enough of his trust to give him a few gentle strokes. This has taken time and patience, but it shows that Dre can begin to trust when someone allows him to move at his own pace.
Dre isn’t a cat who will be comfortable with cuddles and fuss straight away. He will need a calm, understanding home and a person who is happy to let him settle in his own time, without expectations or pressure. His progress may be slow but for the right person, every little breakthrough will be incredibly special.
We feel Dre would be happiest in a home without other cats, where he can have his own space and the opportunity to build a bond with his human at his own pace.
Dre is looking for someone with a big heart, plenty of patience and realistic expectations. Someone who understands that trust must be earned and that love isn’t always shown through cuddles.
He may be a little black cat who is frightened of the world right now but we hope that somewhere out there is a person willing to give him the chance he deserves.
Dre has spent so long surviving. We would love to see him have the chance to feel safe.
