Elmo had a traumatic start, life on the streets didn’t treat him kindly and he came to us with a huge facial abscess. He was very tolerant and accepting of all the care he received, and although at times he hisses, he is not an aggressive cat at all. He had a skin graft using fish skin, and he has recovered really well. His face has a tiny area left to heal, but once this is finished and he has his cone off, he will be so ready for a new happy ever after. Elmo is FIV positive, and sometimes has runny eyes and nose, but other than this it has no effect on him and he is safe to live with other cats.
Elmo loves affection and to sit on your lap and snooze, he is most certainly a lap cat! Elmo has been living with 3 dogs in his foster home, and really dislikes them! In this time he has not really shown any improvement towards them so we feel a home without dogs would be better for him. Elmo would be ok to live with other cats, but i do feel the ultimate home would be one where he is the only cat. He takes a little time and patience with strangers, but if you have food to hand, you will soon win him over. He needs time to gain his confidence as an indoor cat this life and everything in it is still new to him. He has no interest in going outside at all, he is covered in injuries and scars from his street life so i think he feels much happier inside, warm and fed!
Elmo is litter box trained, and is partial to catnip and Valerian! He loves to play but he also loves to sleep! Elmo has a special raw diet, we would like this to be continued in his his new home but it is not essential. He has a sensitive gut and can suffer with diarrhea on dry and wet cat foods, we have found that a natural raw diet suits him perfectly and he really enjoys it. FIV positive cats can have a compromised immune system, therefore we feel its important to ensure Elmo has the best quality diet to keep him fit and healthy. Elmo’s foster mom can support his new family with this
