Millie & Tillie

Looking for a patient home

Millie & Tillie are timid cats looking for a special, understanding and patient home…

Now I have arrived at your home, everything is strange and I don’t feel good.
Do not feel impatient if I don’t sleep in my new basket. Yesterday I slept in the dirt.
Do not be terrified if I gobble up my food. Yesterday I had to do it to survive.
Do not get angry if I pee on your floor. Yesterday it did not matter.
Do not be sad if I am afraid of your loving hand. Yesterday I did not have one.
Have patience with me, it’s your world but not yet mine.
If I trust you, I can give you the greatest gift I have to give. MY HEART.
All I need is a bit of time to adjust.

Hi… I’m Tillie 🤍

That’s my sister Millie beside me, the dark coated one. I’m the lighter one. We’re 3 and a half years old now and we arrived at the Meadows back in May 2023. Since then we’ve spent nearly 3 years living in a pen, watching other cats come and go while nobody ever seems to choose us.

I try not to wonder why… Maybe it’s because we’re shy? Humans can feel scary to us sometimes because of the life we had before we were rescued. We never really learned that people could be kind. Millie is even more nervous than me so I try to be brave for both of us, even when I’m frightened too.

Sometimes, when the people here are very patient and gentle, I’ll creep a little closer. We both love Lick-e-Lix treats and on our braver days we can even take them from a human hand. It might not sound like much but for us it’s huge.

We don’t ask for very much. Just someone patient. Someone quiet. Someone who won’t give up on us because we aren’t confident straight away.

Millie is my whole world. When I’m scared, I press close to her and everything feels a little safer. We sleep curled together, eat together, hide together. After everything we’ve been through, we only really have each other. That’s why we have to stay together.

I know we’re not the easiest cats to love. We probably won’t run straight into your arms. I think if someone gave us time, one day we’d learn what it feels like to finally belong somewhere.
I just hope we don’t spend another year being overlooked.

Lots of love,

Tillie (and Millie) xx
