Ted is a timid cat and is looking for a special, understanding and patient home…
Now I have arrived at your home, everything is strange and I don’t feel good.
Do not feel impatient if I don’t sleep in my new basket. Yesterday I slept in the dirt.
Do not be terrified if I gobble up my food. Yesterday I had to do it to survive.
Do not get angry if I pee on your floor. Yesterday it did not matter.
Do not be sad if I am afraid of your loving hand. Yesterday I did not have one.
Have patience with me, it’s your world but not yet mine.
If I trust you, I can give you the greatest gift I have to give. MY HEART.
All I need is a bit of time to adjust.

Ted came into rescue after being found wandering the streets. As you can see Ted is a British Shorthair and chances are he was dumped as he wasn’t breeding potential – Ted was severely shutdown and terrified beyond belief when he came into care and would literally curl himself into the smallest ball he could and hide his head to avoid looking at you or you seeing him.
For the first week Ted was left to settle in his own time and space but over time it became apparent he wasn’t used to being warm and comfortable, being fed regularly and had little or no contact with humans in a positive way – he would only sleep on the floor of his crate, not in his bed or on the blankets provided. Every day we would sit by his crate and let you stroke his head and back and once or twice a day pick him up and hold him for a couple of minutes or have him sit on our lap.
3-4 weeks down the line and after a lot of tuna flavoured Dreamies, time, patience and lying on the floor with Ted he has come round to having head and chin rubs, he still hates sudden movements, unexpected loud noises but has reached the point now where he needs to settle in his forever home so he doesn’t have to experience any more upheaval.
Ted his wonderful – he is so handsome and has such a sweet and gentle personality – he needs a quiet home where he can flourish and be someone’s everything. He will need time and patience and effort putting into building his confidence but he has done it once and I have no doubt he can do it again.
As is with the breed he does have runny eyes and sometimes his nose can get a bit blocked but this is remedied with cotton ball and warm water to wipe them every day – he isn’t happy about it but doesn’t bite or scratch – again I believe once he gets used to it he will not be as bothered.
Whomever is lucky enough to rehome Ted you will have the most beautiful, sweet soul who when he looks up at you for the first time in pure joy at having a head and chin rub will melt your heart completely…….
